All You Need To Know About Surf Board Rescue Races
Every surf lifesaver must master the skill of rescuing a patient using the traditional surf rescue boards. But some members decide to take up the pursuit on a competitive basis.
The surf board rescue race is a team contest in which one lifesaver, acting as the patient, swims out to a buoy, raises his or her hand, and then waits for the other lifesaver to paddle out on a rescue board, pick them up, and return to shore. On the way back, the lifesavers will attempt to catch waves in order to gain ground on their rivals. However, the trick is to avoid large dumping waves, lest the board or patient are lost. |
